When I started this newsletter, I already knew what I was going to call it.

Good Saturday Morning.

For two years now, I’ve been getting up at 5 am (almost) every Saturday, driving to the closest coffeeshop to our house, and grinding on personal projects for three hours.

Sometimes it was writing, other times, video editing, and content creation.

As a way to hold myself accountable, I post a picture of my coffee and laptop each time and post it to X.

This slowly created one of the most powerful habits I’ve ever developed.

Around the same time I started doing this, a major life event occurred.

We had our first child.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that being a husband and father requires everything I have, including my time.

But I also realized that, as a man, I need to always be applying myself to something.

Building something.

That is a desire coded into our DNA.

But building and creating wasn’t going to happen if I wasn’t intentional about it.

I didn’t want to steal time away from my family to go work. That didn’t feel right.

So this was my solution.

And it’s worked out incredibly well.

Every week, I look forward to these three hours of grind time.

Sipping on my large black coffee and creating something.

I rarely miss it.

And I return to my family better for it.

As a man, we have innate desires that must be attended to.

These include building, learning, socializing, and moving our bodies.

When we have kids, the only way to make time for these is to do them when the family is sleeping.

I hope this is a helpful unlock for you.

If you know of any other young professionals who would love this newsletter, I’d love for you to share it and spread the word.

Have a blessed weekend!
Mitch
